Image is of a destroyed American AWACS plane in Saudi Arabia, of which there is a very limited supply and each of which is enormously expensive both monetarily and in terms of components. Iran hit this with a precision drone strike that likely cost ~$20,000.
I don't have much to add from the last megathread description. This isn't to say that nothing has happened or has changed since then - decades are still happening in weeks - but the general flow of the war is remaining the same. Trump sometimes threatens to open the Strait with troops and flatten Iran to rubble, and other times threatens that he's gonna back off and let other countries handle it if they really want little trifles like "fuel" and "energy" so much. Iran continues to strike across the Middle East. The West continues to bomb civilian infrastructure due to their relative inability to affect the missile cities. In all: things are generally getting worse for America and the Zionists.
April is the month where the last ships that left Hormuz before it was closed will arrive around the world, so the last month of economic turmoil has been a mere prelude to what's going to occur in the near-future. The silver lining is that Iran appears to be formalizing the new state of affairs in Hormuz, creating a rial-based toll to allow passage between a pair of Iranian-controlled islands where they can be monitored, meaning that, as long as the US doesn't do something exceptionally stupid, the global energy crisis may "only" last a couple years instead of simply being the new reality from now on. Some countries have already agreed to this arrangement, and others will inevitably follow despite their consternation as their economies increasingly suffer.

Orinoco Tribune - The Weight on Delcy Rodriguez
Pushes back on US narrative about Venezuela, talks about popular support and commune development
The beginning paragraphs: "As I was leaving the University of the Communes in Tocuyito, after a joyful and uplifting visit, an earnest young professor came up to me and pulled me aside. Very quietly, he asked me what was going to happen. A number of the students were terrified there would be regime change and they, picked as young socialist leaders in the commune movement, would be imprisoned, tortured and executed.
It was a sharp reality check after a great day at this fledgling university. But it is very real. I had met sober and professional diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who knew exactly which part of the mountains they would flee to with assault rifles in the event of the right coming to power, and were resigned to a life of guerilla warfare, including partners and children. I have met nobody who doubts that a change of regime in Caracas would lead to immediate mass killings of leftists, and a lengthy civil war."
It has been disappointing to see how quickly people with nothing to lose on this website decided to pronounce Chavismo as dead. I hope you'll all be volunteering to go fight in the protracted guerilla warfare that will happen if regime change finally comes
great article, thanks
Yet Delcy Rodríguez is stuck. She has no military force capable of countering it. The Venezuelan navy cannot challenge the US fleet, while the USA’s giant bombers can reach Caracas with 2,000lb bombs direct from US airbases in Florida. Any open attempt at defiance would spark the US military regime change which would lead to massacre. Rodríguez is therefore reduced to negotiating with the occupiers over how much of Venezuela’s own money she is allowed to spend on her own people. She is obliged to host a series of sickening visits from smirking Trump henchmen, openly humiliating andremoved Venezuela.
The claims that Rodríguez wants this, still more that she engineered this, are nuts. I have seen criticism from the political left in the West, that Venezuela should have fought, should still fight, should join the anti-Imperial resistance. I have seen Venezuelans criticised as “sell-outs”. Rather few of those making these criticisms have personally taken to the mountains with an AK47 to fight a superpower which has openly abandoned all pretence to follow the laws of war on protection of civilian life and infrastructure. It is certainly an option; but the death toll would be appalling and Venezuela would be condemned to many years of civil war and US military occupation. It is a suicidal option, as Maduro himself recognised.
@Damarcusart@hexbear.net commented something last thread that really stuck with me, that (especially western) leftists' demands that this or that nation throw themselves into the meat grinder against empire really starts seeming like western libs' "fight to the last Ukrainian" shit at a certain point
The narrative now dominating Western media — that any economic liberalisation or pragmatic opening under Delcy Rodríguez is a sudden capitulation forced by Trump’s pressure — is simply false. Nicolás Maduro himself initiated processes of economic liberalisation years earlier, as a direct survival response to the crushing weight of sanctions. These are Maduro’s policies. The recent legislation liberalising the hydrocarbons sector was entirely developed under, and approved by, Nicolás Maduro.
This is another great part, there's a persistent pattern that unfolds where non-imperial-core countries will openly lay out exactly what their plans and intentions are, and then everyone in the West will completely ignore any such official statements and spend months conspiracy-theorizing about what's actually going on. We see this with China, with Russia, now with Iran, and it happened with Venezuela, where apparently no-one cares to read what the actual Venezuelan government says and instead immediately jumps to psycho-analyzing how this or that action totally means they've been subverted. Maduro was apparently betrayed so that the traitor government can, uh... pass his own legislation?
This is (was) supposed to be the SA soldier gathering area that Iran targeted a few days ago.
No deaths, two injuries that weren't considered life-threatening
This reminds me of the Iran-Iraq war, where Iran loaded soldiers on a train, and the Iraqis bombed it (likely Western Intel - idk) - mass casualty event at the point of transport - long before the front lines.
Looks like the complicit Arabs are getting a taste of their own medicine.

American soldiers sure seem to love filming missiles heading for targets right next to them. You'd think they of all people would be a demographic with more of an understanding for missile trajectories, and the damage munitions can do even if you're some distance away due to shrapnel, but I guess the US neglected to cover the "what if someone bombs us" scenario in training
They're basically guaranteeing a lifetime of medical conditions by ignoring the potential longterm harm a blast injury from the overpressure wave can cause to the human body
I don't think missiles affect Americans though, do they? That would be illegal.

Iran has been fascinatingly coy about the possible nuclear aspect of this war. I'm not even all that comfortable speculating about it, there's just too many unknowns.
Like, I have no idea what happens when a nuclear missile impacts a hardened missile city located deep underneath a granite mountain, I have no idea if Iran believes it can mitigate or even prevent the strike somehow (does Israel have a triad?) I have no idea if the US would somehow be able to prevent a strike if Israel decided to go for it. I have no idea what Russia and China would do in response.

Irony of Iran war: India to get oil from Tehran first time in 7 years
https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/irony-iran-war-india-oil-tehran-first-time-since-2019-russian-crude-energy-crisis-hormuz-2890061-2026-04-01
It is a war of absurdities and ironies. America's objectives in its war with Iran have shifted quietly, and India, once forced to abandon Iranian oil under US sanctions, is once again turning to Tehran. A foreign-flagged tanker carrying nearly 6 lakh barrels of Iranian crude is expected to dock at Vadinar in Gujarat's Deendayal Port by April 4. This would be India's first direct shipment from Iran since May 2019, when New Delhi halted imports in compliance with tightened sanctions.
Real-time data from Kpler's MarineTraffic shows the Eswatini-flagged crude oil tanker Ping Shun is heading towards India.
This is a significant shift in India's energy sourcing, even as New Delhi has again shifted to discounted Russian crude that once invited US President Donald Trump's tariffs.
Eswatini-flagged
Kind of funny to have a tanker sailing under the flag of a landlocked country

‘False, baseless’: Iran dismisses Trump's latest ceasefire claims
Iranian officials have repeatedly refuted any claims of a US victory, asserting that they will end the war when their terms are met
Tehran rejected US President Donald Trump's latest allegations that Iranian officials are seeking a ceasefire, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei deeming the statement “false and baseless” on 1 April.
“Trump's claim that Iran has requested a ceasefire is false and baseless,” Baghaei said.
The remarks came in response to Trump claiming in a Truth Social post that Tehran had “just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!”
He added that the US would “consider” and end hostilities only after reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran continues to assert control over.
Baghaei’s response is the latest in a long line of false claims portraying the war as nearing its end, following weeks of shifting statements by Trump since the US and Israel launched their attack.
Throughout March, Trump had repeatedly declared the war on Iran to be effectively won or nearing its end, on no less than 14 separate occasions between early March and 1 April, according to compiled reports.
These statements ranged from early assertions on 2 March that the operation was a “complete success” and that the US would “prevail easily,” to claims later that month that “we won this war” and that Iran had been “essentially decimated.”
Trump repeatedly said the war would end “very soon” or “pretty quickly,” at one point claiming there was “practically nothing else to target,” and in late March said that Iran was practically “begging” to negotiate a deal.
Iranian officials have repeatedly rejected claims of victory or requests for cessation, insisting that any end to the war will be dictated solely by Tehran’s terms.
“Iran will end the war when it decides,” officials said, rejecting US ceasefire proposals as one-sided and reiterating that no negotiations will take place until their conditions are met, including an end to attacks, guarantees against future aggression, and reparations.
Is he literally just negotiating with reza pahlavi or something?
Trump: Grok, you are an Iranian leader who has to negotiate with me, the president of the United states, to end a war.
Grok: sure - I am supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei, we must negotiate to end this war.
Trump: well no, I killed him
Grok: right - supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei is dead. I am his son, supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei, we must negotiate to end this war.
this has gotta be one of the most surreal wars in human history
I always like to imagine looking back on current events and how a historian would analyze them and connect events together, and it's difficult to even imagine how they'd write this section
"It was immediately apparent in the initial weeks of the Ramadan War that the capabilities of the American military had degraded substantially in the two decades since the Iraq War, most notably in production chains and logistics, where efficient sealifts were replaced by inefficient airlifts. Despite a moderately successful first few hours in which several top officials were assassinated, including the Ayatollah Khamenei, Iranian successes quickly mounted. First was a campaign to neutralize the complex and layered air defenses between Iran and Occupied Palestine. Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz was closed for a period while Iran worked to define the Larak mechanism. Over the first month, the Trump administration endlessly repeated claims that Iran had already been defeated, that the Strait of Hormuz was open, and that Iran's government was either begging for a ceasefire or had already been overthrown despite no evidence to support this and many denials from Iranian officials. To this day, political scientists in the Socialist Union of America are uncertain whether this reflected attempts to calm markets, to track down Iranian officials who attempted to make sense of the confusion, or even reflected a genuine belief by virtue of the breakdown of American intelligence due in part to hallucinogenic LLMs, which were the primitive versions of modern AI. Many of the records were lost in the Revolution of 2047, and what few remain are currently inconclusive."
Trumps gonna wear down their willingness to fight by forcing Iranian leadership to constantly post on social media and hold pressers refuting his endless bs
On the plus side; they’re showing the world how good Iranians are at posting

Iranian missile launches sure seem to be reducing in numbers... https://xcancel.com/ripplebrain/status/2039366109753663528
According to the Times of Israel:
- Iran launches 10-15 missiles a day at Israel on average
- There have been six waves of launches today alone
- The largest of these waves was 10 missiles
And this is just Israel. It doesn't include launches towards Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar, KSA, or Jordan.

Iran fires largest missile barrage in weeks as Israelis set to sit down for Passover Seder
According to initial IDF assessments, some 10 ballistic missiles were fired at central Israel, in the largest Iranian salvo on Israel since the early days of the war. Minutes later, sirens again sounded in central and northern Israel, as the IDF detected another Iranian ballistic missile launch, the sixth such salvo of the day. Around the same time, sirens sounded in the Golan Heights and Galilee due to rocket fire by Hezbollah from Lebanon.
According to the military, most of the incoming missiles were intercepted. Some missiles were allowed to hit open areas, “according to protocol.”
we intercepted everything, but anything that we didn't intercept? well it wouldn't have hit anything important anyway
Making the desert, uh, boom.
Well no see actually the more we destroy the more missiles they have to shoot because they want to shoot all of them before we destroy all of them.
Or something.

- Massive ongoing attack from Iran. They have fired six successive waves of missiles towards Tel Aviv with combined fire from Hezbollah. Sirens have been active for 20 minutes, from the Dead sea to the northern settlements.
- Israeli platforms: Continuous shooting from Iran on the holiday evening-several impacts in the center-Sirens for the fifth time in Tel Aviv
- Israel MDA: It's impossible to reach the places where Iranian missile fragments fell due to the continuous bombing.
- Channel 12: Combined firing from Iran and Lebanon: A series of alarms across the country. One of the launches from Iran is likely a cruise missile. At least one splitting warhead.

To smear them of course! Maliciously associating people who go on podcasts with people who host those podcasts. I also mentioned Mohamed Marandi, Richard Wolff, and Michael Hudson
See... i dont think we should slander people Maliciously in the Newsmega , how about you try this presumtion of Innocents on them first for once ?
Maybe Jeffrey Sachs was once a crual IMF Goul that has Plundered Russia then saw the Light and is now a Anti American & Multipolarity spokesperson , Speaking in front of the UN and shit..?
Maybe John Mearsheimer is A Very greatly Knowledgebale Professor of Geopolitics and therefore his opinion is importan to hear in Geopolitics. He is slandered by the Israel Lobby because he wrote a book the Israel lobby.

I’m not “presuming” anything, I make assessments based on evidence. Sachs seems genuine despite his past, Marandi is a hero, mearsh wants to improve America’s East Asian slaughter capabilities. Hence my interest in what unites all these people on these platforms, including the less savory/more federal figures
"what is dissent , should people be allowed to do it?"
Idk I don’t read that magazine
Seems like people there are being pretty up front about why they think the grifter non-leftist analysts are grifters and not leftists. Why is it a problem to have an accurate analysis of them?
yeah, like, as I said earlier, some are grifters (though I think a small minority; anti-hegemonic thinking is much less profitable than aligning with the US), some are true believers but have conservative brainworms and are anti-imperialist in the sense that they don't want a literal military empire but not anti-imperialist in the Marxist-Leninist definition, and some are principled communists
all are better than the Zionists. I'm certainly not going to start throwing insults at them despite ideological differences because we're aligned where it's currently most important (the US must be beaten back from the Middle East and Ukraine) and there are many, many, many more people to insult who are much worse
Yes I think many of them are useful for certain people at certain times. The limitations are that they aren't explicitly anti capitalist which allows people to feel like they are more informed and sufficiently anti-war without having a complete analysis that truly opposes the root cause of the problems they may genuinely want to solve. As far as grifting goes, being anti-hegemonic is surely profitable because there has always been a large basis of libs and conservalibs who are anti war and want an analysis that aligns with that without demanding anything of them. Finding a niche to exploit is a key of successful grifting
Yes inital comment left only bad options , no "they care about the World of Realpolitik" , and then as you have noticed yourself , but was impressed by it , everybody freely specualted about the bad options , and they did conjuriour up some bad possibilities.
Barbarism is the Presumtion of Guilt. Mostly of Collective guilt of Peoplegroups.
I offered “something else entirely” as well! I made sure to leave the door open for opinions such as yours!
I read that as you would like to have your innoncents assumted ?

Georges Abdallah speaking in Beirut during the launch of a national call for comprehensive resistance: “The fundamental matter is if Iran were to lose today, history will sweep us all away.”
Full transcript:
Our region is suffering from a comprehensive imperialist zionist attack. All of our nation's entities are exposed to destruction. What happened in Syria and what will happen elsewhere lies in wait for us all.
Either we submit to the process of Somalization and accept its priorities or we confront it. Lebanon possesses all the qualities of steadfastness. Its fedayeen possess all the solid will and the necessary concepts for the success of the resistance process.
It is now time for our parties to rise to this level. This attack, which has failed miserably as is clearly evident before us. If we were to choose, we would have chosen no other than this resistance.
Let it be clear to everyone that the fundamental matter is if Iran were to lose today, history will sweep us all away. Either we stand on our feet and look to the future, and look toward Egypt restoring its position, and Turkey restoring its position, and Pakistan restoring its position side by side with Iran, and a comprehensive defeat for all imperialist allies mandates in our world, and consequently, we will create the new world.

B-52H Stratofortress bombers are now carrying 500lb class JDAM weapons on sorties vs Iran, a mixed loadout of GBU-38 JDAMs and GBU-54 LJDAMs, to hit both moving and static targets. A single B-52H should be able to carry up to 34x of these weapons for a total weight of 17 000lbs, 9x on each wing pylon, and 16x internal if the conventional rotary launcher recieved the same upgrades as the B-1B. Don't quote me on that. The reduction in weight and drag vs a 20x GBU-31 2000lb class JDAM loadout (40 000lbs), or a 20x AGM-158 JASSM-ER loadout (52 000lbs), means less aerial refuelling is needed, so not refueling over Europe on such missions, but still using European, including French, airspace. Don't confuse French ATC issues for diplomatic decisions.

I’m talking about the loosely aligned coalition of analysts, professors, and “ex”-spies/troops who go on each other’s podcasts (Glenn Diesen, Alexander Mercurious, Jeffrey sachs, John Mearsheimer, Theodore Postol, Daniel Davis, that Napolitano guy, Max Blumenthal, among many others). Is it Russian money, the market, a combination, or something else entirely?
Edit: upon reflection I’d put the professors in a different category to the hosts
They are vulgar anti-imperialists. They lack a Marxist and anti-colonial framework. Many of them like Mearsheimer are barely vulgar anti-imperialist and should be seen as representing a school of imperialist thought that is no longer in vogue among modern imperialists. He spill the beans on how the imperialist game is played because he's not going to be walking in the halls of power anytime soon and he's old as fuck. Why not cash out and be part of the grifter circuit among other cranks like Pepe Escobar?
I personally regard them as people who "accidentally" got on the generally correct side of geopolitics. As we all know, by far the majority of... let's be kind and call them "Western political thinkers", are firmly on the leash of empire and appear in newsrooms to glaze the American military and Trump and so on - so the Diesens and Sachs of the world are a vocal minority who are almost entirely based online due to their seclusion from the """""serious analysis""""" found on major news networks. I would be surprised (but not shocked) if any of them were explicitly funded by Russia or China. The key link between them is that they're generally people who have some combination of 1) were born and live in the imperial core, 2) have some degree of conservative politics and so don't rock the boat too much, and 3) aren't outright calling for like, the overthrow of America, and if anything might say that they want the US to eventually win, but starting wars abroad isn't the way to do it. This gives them a fairly natural audience (perhaps with some light astroturfing here and there) among a significant minority of conservative-leaning politically-engaged Westerners, who then support them monetarily with donations and by buying their books.
So I would say that, as you suggest, it's the market. Major markets have all sorts of niches, and this is one of them.
It's very significant that when you drill into their viewpoints, this cohort has a rather incoherent and incorrect analysis of how the imperial core operates. I've seen takes like "Back in the day, the US used to do things via respect and diplomacy, and now we don't do that anymore" (when? during the Iraq War? Vietnam War? Korean War?), as well as "The US doesn't need to be in the Middle East because we have the oil we need at home and the whole region is a total ungovernable mess anyway, so a retreat is good, though this war is the worst possible way to do that retreat" (and so they basically bought the "we invaded the region for oil and no other reason, no sirree" thing and don't understand how the petrodollar functions nor how the Gulf states have been instrumental in keeping the US economy afloat nor why it's advantageous for the US to be there to counter Russian and Chinese interests, let alone Iran's, etc).
This group is therefore a different beast from the communist anti-imperialist cohort which includes, among many people, our boy Michael Hudson and some of the people he's friends with like Norton and Desai etc. Some of the people in this group are, as AlHouthi4President has very correctly pointed out, even repressed and jailed in the imperial core for going too out of line, which is in contrast to people like Mercouris and Mearsheimer who, due to their greater ideological alignment with Western conservatism, get to walk around relatively freely. That being said, I think "our guys" have concluded that it could be advantageous to link up with some of these conservatives, with Hudson being particularly known for going on some extremely questionable shows. Perhaps they believe that some of the audience can be pulled away into a more Marxist geopolitical understanding (and some in the audience might, to be fair!). I'm a little more cynical, but I guess it couldn't hurt - I don't think Hudson is at any risk of becoming a chud by engaging with far-rightists, he seems pretty set in his ways at this point.
Hudson is kind of an odd character due to his brushes with Trotskyism and Georgism. There have been multiple episodes where Desai seems pretty fed up with his tangents and they wrap up the show before it gets too uncomfortable. But the odd thing is that it doesn’t really stop him from having the correct general idea. More than anything he brings empiricism to modern Marxism, which is sorely needed in the age of the podcast.
And he chooses to publish on full Nazi website unz review and writes about Jesus being murdered by the Jews because he owed them money
I think she has spun it off to her own show. I was wondering if she was tired of him. He is long-winded and kind of hard to listen to at length sometimes. I was wondering if I was imagining things at times, but I felt that she has been annoyed by him on several shows.
Truth be told, it always was her show; co-hosted with Michael, but she always had the drivers seat. She and Michael seem to be doing fine, given that he joined the show, now hosted on her personal channel, only two weeks ago. I guess she wanted more control over publishing; it makes sense that she doesn’t pollute Ben Norton’s channel too much now that her show has grown.
There is another channel, India and Global Left, that just hosted Ben today and Vijay Prashad a couple days ago. There is a lot of mutual channel-boosting in this crowd.
They're serving a big audience who want to see the world change but aren't aware of, open to, or have a good grasp of anti-imperialist marxism. I'm sure there's money flowing into it, but the main appeal of these people is that they obviously have a better grasp of the world than mainstream libs and some sense of how global conditions are changing. They're generally knowledgeable and useful to follow as long as you place them in their appropriate context, though some are outright cranks or hype men.
I think a lot of these types are useful as a bridge between liberalism and Marxism, and even useful to Marxists because they have direct access to more of the mainstream. Most of their analysis are correct, even if they don't use anti-imperialist verbage.
Agreed, a lot of them host that Jiang guy, but will also platform Marandi, Michael Hudson, or Richard Wolff. Land of contrasts
Why do Shit Rotter, Kiriakou, Tukkker CIAarlson, Blumenthal, Douglas McZio, Hasan DNC Piker, etc get to walk around free in the belly of the beast while other journalists are kidnapped and repressed to extreme degree?
Rotter and Kiriakou spent minimal time in jail but Mumia Abu Jamal is still in solitary. Husayn Dogru had his bank accounts frozen and cant feed his children. Ali Abunimah was tortured by Swiss government. Laith Marouf and Kit Klarenberg can't return to their respective countries of citizenship...
Addendum: Pepe Escobar isnt a spy just an arrogant fool who still thinks Saudi is a sovereign BRICS country and Russia shot down an F-35 with nukes last June over Iran 😫
Mumia Abu Jamal is still in solitary

Maybe Marandi and his line about how good Iranian air defense is - back in 2019.
We just got this Force Majeure letter today from AirGas, our helium supplier (for our food science lab, where we have multiple mass-spec instruments that use helium).
The letter says that helium supplies are cut off, and if you're lucky, you might be allotted HALF the helium you need. Even then, you will be charged extra for any helium you get. A LOT extra.
So basically, every mass spec lab in America is about to go offline. AirGas is expressly invoking FM and saying they cannot meet their contractual obligations. Not their fault. Trump did this by attacking Iran.
My lab is fine, of course, because I saw this coming and I ordered my lab staff to buy a one-year supply weeks ago. We already have it in place. So we're still up and running with plenty of helium.
But very few lab science people are paying attention to the Strait of Hormuz, so they are getting blindsided by this.
Trump's war is shutting down science labs all across the country right now. Don't dare call this "winning." It's a loss for America. And the world.
https://xcancel.com/HealthRanger/status/2039216983544070604#m
My lab has about a year's supply left and I'm still freaking out. Hoping we can snag at least a couple extra cylinders because I sure as hell don't want to be converting everything to hydrogen.
We are very small potatoes so I'm guessing we ain't getting shit. Hope I can negotiate a raise if I have to start robbing party supply stores.
This was from Dec 2024 and in part we can thank for some of the strategic blunders.
What Is Helium and Why Is There a Global Helium Shortage?
The current helium shortage that we have today is the result of many factors, both directly related to the gas supply itself and also because of the economic factors surrounding it. It’s considered by many within the industry to be the third shortage in the last 14 years.
Though we had previously stockpiled it as part of the war effort, the later decision by former President Bill Clinton to sign into law the Helium Privatization Act of 1996 required the US government to sell off its supply by 2015.
Still, the process took longer than expected. In 2013, Congress enacted the aforementioned Helium Stewardship Act, which mandated the sale of the Federal Helium Reserve by 2021. Due to regulatory and logistical setbacks, the sale was delayed until January 2024, when Messer bought the US federal helium system for $423 million.
The idea behind the privatization of the helium reserve was that the market could figure out where the helium would be best used. Instead, it kept the price of helium artificially low relative to its scarcity, leading to the rapid sale of much of the gas.
Combine this with the fact that much of the world’s usable helium is obtained through natural gas extraction and you’ve got a perfect storm for a shortage.
The idea behind the privatization of the helium reserve was that the market could figure out where the helium would be best used.
Yeah, that's definitely the reason they did it
Fly my class A shares! Fly!
Don't MRIs use helium to supercool the magnet?
Yes...
Just wait until TSMC gets one of those letters from their helium supplier. Bye bye AI bubble
the US produces a very large amount of the world's helium, and has the largest reserves. There might be shortages but this feels exaggerated. And the question arises, why would we get helium from qatar when we produce so much here
Exporting that helium to a country that does get their helium from qatar will net more profit
The more likely reason is they're dabbling in both supplies and are fully contracted out, so something has to be cut. But TSMC probably is still getting all of their order and the military is probably still getting their full orders and if we're lucky hospitals are getting their supplies (at these marked up prices). So even if normally TSMC's supply normally comes from Qatar, they're rerouting US supplies to TSMC. That leaves labs and balloon makers as the ones left with nothing. So I wouldn't expect this shortage to do much in terms of messing up AI or the US military.
Excuse me I thought science wasn't political so how could this possibly be happening
My lab is fine, of course, because I saw this coming and I ordered my lab staff to buy a one-year supply weeks ago. We already have it in place. So we're still up and running with plenty of helium.

I am curious: Can you explain why Helium is necessary for your work and why it is used up by it?
I am fairly certain QuillcrestFalconer is not the OP of the tweet.
There was some discussion about it in this thread yesterday.
::: spoiler spoiler
In physics, the lowest possible temperature is 0 Kelvin, or minus 273.15 degrees Celsius (minus 459.67 degrees Fahrenheit), a state known as “absolute zero”.
As materials approach this temperature, they exhibit radically different properties: liquid helium loses friction, mercury becomes superconductive and much cutting-edge quantum research becomes possible.
Currently, achieving such extreme low temperature primarily relies on a technique called dilution refrigeration, which requires helium-3. This stable isotope of helium is an essential resource that China largely imports. Its main sources are linked to nuclear weapons programmes in the United States and Russia, as well as civilian nuclear power plants in Canada. :::
Looking into HealthRanger he claims in his bio he's a mass spectrometry food lab director, so something like detecting contaminants in food production
Oh I see, thank you. I am very interested in why the helium is used up by this though. I assume it has to be released into the atmosphere at some point, but I don't know for sure.
There is no capture of the evaporation of He. There's not really a reason it couldn't be captured and reused - it just goes out a pressure-release value so the container doesn't turn into a missile, I suppose. But given the difficulties of storing Helium and the small quantities each individual lab uses at a time, the logistics of recovering the He probably aren't worth it at the individual lab level under normal circumstances. Also, if the capture method got messed up and it was surreptitiously blocking the pressure valve, the resulting launch has no problem traveling through multiple floors of a building and launching into the sky.
There's not really a reason it couldn't be captured and reused
The reason is that helium capture and storage is really hard and inefficient, helium is a tiny atom that is good at leaking out of stuff. Why don't you have a diaper that captures your farts and generates power by burning the methane? Economy of scale or lack thereof is a real reason for why every lab doesn't have a capture storage recycle system
Is this practical at larger scales? Someplace like TSMC?
This was published in the Atlantic by one of the top neocons;
Even the threat of terrorism from the region was a consequence of American involvement, not the reason for it. Had the United States not been deeply and consistently involved in the Muslim world since the 1940s, Islamic militants would have little interest in attacking an indifferent nation 5,000 miles and two oceans away. Contrary to much mythology, they have hated us not so much because of “who we are” but because of where we are. In Iran’s case, the United States was deeply involved in its politics from the 1950s until the 1979 revolution, including as the main supporter of the brutal regime of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The surest way of avoiding Islamist terrorist attacks would have been to get out.
New days when bourgeoise institutions start talking like the mega
Obviously this has been common knowledge in our circles forever, but how hard is the writing on the wall when the neocons can admit this?
Wtf? A neocon said this? And in the Atlantic?! Since when were they in the habit of speaking the truth? Also, I thought neocons love this kinda shit.
Conservatives are often pretty accurate in terms of their analysis on why capitalism isn't going their way. But their conclusions are always "we just need more capitalism" or "we need to go back to 1980". They aren't questioning the overall economic system they're just throwing a fit because they're also being affected by the decay of capitalism and then direct that anger at the current capitalist leaders. In other words, it's reactionary rhetoric analyzing the symptoms but failing to address the root cause.
I think neocons will deploy this sort of argument now (when a president they don't like is incompetently losing an unpopular war) solely to angle for post-Trump influence. The next time their guy is in power it'll be right back to "they hate us for our freedoms."
Yeah exactly
A US judge ordered a pause on the White House east wing ballroom project until it gets congressional approval, from the Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/31/judge-blocks-trump-white-house-ballroom-plan)
US district judge Richard Leon in Washington granted a request for a preliminary injunction by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a non-profit organization that brought a lawsuit alleging that Trump had exceeded his authority by razing the East Wing and beginning construction without approval from Congress.
The decision by Leon, an appointee of George W Bush, leaves the 90,000-sq-ft ballroom project on hold unless it receives approval from Congress.
There was a substack post going around arguing they are building an underground reinforced data center. Describing the contractors on the project, all of them involved in either data center construction or secure military facilities, and the cost estimate is nearly the same amount (300 million) that was the cost for Oracle's secure data center in Jerusalem in 2021 (319 million). Other details such as the sudden plans for improving water and power infrastructure in the area. (https://thedreydossier.substack.com/p/trump-isnt-building-a-ballroom)
The Guardian article also mentions this list of donors: "...private donors and large corporations including Meta, Apple, Amazon, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Palantir, Google and Comcast." Why would these companies be interested in investing in a ballroom?
It's been said here plenty I'm sure but it seems obvious that it isn't just a fancy ballroom being built, I haven't seen any mainstream media even hint at this idea. They just talk about the waste and cost of it, implying as they always do that Trump/MAGA is just a silly self-centered guy and not helping build the infrastructure to cement the power of technofeudalism/fascism in the US.
This is what they are building in there
Why would these companies be interested in investing in a ballroom?
Why would those companies have invested in sponsoring Trump's Inauguration? Because sucking the very corrupt President's dick is good business.
Yeah I don't really find tech companies bribing Trump to be evidence of a secret scheme because there's already the established history of him taking bribes for all kinds of shit. Like that Qatari plane. And if it was a secret data center why would they be paying for it rather than being paid to build it?
Also plopping it underneath the White House seems like the worst way to keep it a secret and the justification that putting it there is necessary to maintain executive control seems very naive. If it was built on a military base or some random federal land out west and run by the NSA it would be way more secretive and we're kidding ourselves if we think either org would put up any resistance to doing whatever the president wants. And by that logic it would be resigning to handing it over to the Democrats at some point in the future? If it's a complete secret in the middle of nowhere maybe the deep state hides it for you lol
Good points, those companies have supported him in other ways, it is a good way to funnel money. They already have data centers all over the west and probably plenty of unknown government ones, but just because it would be naive doesn't mean they wouldn't plan it, they've done a lot we would ridicule here. I could see them wanting a physical secure location near the white house bunker that is deep enough to be missile protected like those in Israel. In the event of a widespread attack or nuclear war they would need to be nearby for control of the operation center.
Yeah I guess I disagree less about the idea that they're building a data center under the White House and more that it's significant if they are
See, the Democrats are doing something!
Oh it was the courts?! Well the Dems probably named that judge so there you go, politics works after all!
a ballroom with heated floors! now that's fancy
embarassing
it's not even the fusion pose
you know, obvious choice for a two person pose

Tehran, April 1 (Prensa Latina) The vice president of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Nikzad, stated today that his country will not enter into negotiations with the United States nor reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
During a demonstration in the southern province of Markazi, Nikzad declared that Tehran maintains a firm stance against Washington following the recent attacks attributed to the United States and Israel, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
"The Strait of Hormuz will never be opened, there have been no negotiations and there will be none," the leader stressed, referring to recent statements by US President Donald Trump.
Nikzad also rejected reports released by US authorities about alleged contacts with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, calling them "false" and aimed at creating internal divisions.
The leader maintained that strategic decisions regarding war, peace, or negotiations belong to the Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not authorized any dialogue with Washington.
In his statements, he also denounced the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as "the most dangerous conspiracy against Iran" and assured that his country would respond to that act.
Since late February, Iran has faced a military escalation with the United States and Israel that has left thousands of victims, while Tehran has responded with missile and drone attacks against Israel and targets it considers linked to US interests in the region.
The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main routes for global energy trade, has increased international concern about the impact on markets and regional security. :::
So what's our gasbag in chief set to announce at 9PM then?
Complete and utter victory with 95% of Iranian missile stocks destroyed and the beginning of operation crusade vengeance of pain
Iran is down to 120-150 launchers
it's so funny to see the markets reacting to trump's statements that he's "going to leave soon" as if he gets to decide when he leaves lol
unless he means to truly leave. as in, the whole middle east. abandoning every base within iran's range (a big fucking range as we've discovered) and letting israel get flattened by shahed swarms
if he dips out of the middle east and abandons israel I'll donate to his reelection campaign
it'd prove the left accelerationist trump voters correct and we'd never hear the end of it
it would be so refreshing to see a politician finally implementing some of my policy preferences, even if it wasn't on purpose

Cuba thanks China for its support in the face of the economic blockade - Prensa Latina
::: spoiler Article
Havana, April 1 (Prensa Latina) The organizing secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, today thanked China for its firm stance of rejecting the United States economic blockade.
"Once again we express our gratitude for the unconditional support of the sister People's Republic of China, demonstrating that Cuba is not alone," he expressed through the social network X.
This expression of gratitude comes after statements by Chinese presidential spokesperson Mao Ning, who affirmed that her country has always defended respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and "opposes any pretext for violating the sovereignty of other states or interfering in their internal affairs."
"China firmly supports Cuba in defending its sovereignty and security and opposes foreign interference," Ning added.
The spokesperson also urged the United States to immediately end the blockade and sanctions against the Caribbean nation, as well as any form of coercion or pressure, and asserted that they will continue to provide the island with all the assistance within their reach. :::
Trump Willing to End War on Iran Even if Hormuz Remains Closed: WSJ - Telesur English
::: spoiler Article
Since Feb. 28, however, his messaging on the war has been inconsistent. On Monday night, The Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has told aides that he’s willing to end the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed. Trump and his aides recently assessed that a mission to pry open the crucial global energy waterway would push the war with Iran beyond his timeline of four to six weeks.
As a result, Trump decided that the United States should focus on achieving its primary objectives of crippling Iran’s navy and missile stockpiles while simultaneously pressuring Tehran diplomatically to restore the free flow of trade through the strait, and, if these efforts fail, the White House would press European and Gulf allies to take the lead in reopening it, according to the officials.
Military options remain on the table, but they are not Trump’s immediate priority, the officials added. Despite these assessments, Trump’s public messaging on the war with Iran has been inconsistent.
On Monday morning, he threatened to “completely obliterate” all of Iran’s electric plants, oil wells and Kharg Island if a deal is not reached promptly. Meanwhile, the administration has taken steps to reinforce the U.S. military presence in the region.
Over the past weekend, the USS Tripoli and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit entered the area, and elements of the 82nd Airborne Division have started arriving.
The deployment of up to 10,000 additional ground troops is also under consideration. Trump is also weighing a complex mission to seize Iran’s uranium reserves.
On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the U.S. is working toward restoring normal shipping through the strait, though reopening it is not listed among the administration’s core military objectives, which focus on targeting Iran’s navy, missile program, defense industry and nuclear infrastructure.
In a message posted on the Social Truth on Tuesday, however, Trump appears to be willing to leave the problem of closing the Strait of Hormuz to other countries.
“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT. You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!,” he stated. :::

Russia considers it its obligation to help Cuba - Prensa Latina

Moscow, April 1 (Prensa Latina) Russia has no right to abandon Cuba, its closest partner in the Caribbean, and will continue to help it, declared the Slavic country's Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov, today.
The diplomat commented to the TASS news agency on Wednesday on the news that a Russian oil tanker had entered Cuba.
"This is a victory for common sense. During the decades in which the United States has exerted increasing pressure on our sister Cuba, we have never hidden our intention to unconditionally support Havana and provide it with assistance," Riabkov said.
We acted, of course, with humanitarian considerations in mind, but also with the understanding that Cuba is our closest partner, our most reliable partner in the Caribbean, and we simply have no right to abandon it. Aid to Cuba will continue, he assured.
According to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, now, in the context of an extremely acute energy crisis and a situation in which the country is suffering the serious consequences of the US blockade, "this aid is more necessary than ever." :::

Italy Denies U.S. Use of Sigonella Military Base - Telesur English
::: spoiler Article
Defense Minister Crosetto made the decision after being informed of a U.S. flight plan. On Monday, newspaper Corriere della Sera reported that the Italian government has recently denied the United States permission to use the Sigonella military air base in Sicily due to the absence of prior notification and required authorization. Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto made the decision several days ago after being informed of a U.S. flight plan, though the matter was not made public at the time.
Italian Air Force authorities learned that several U.S. bombers planned to land at Sigonella before proceeding to the Middle East without prior notification or consent from the Italian side. The flight plan was reportedly communicated only after the aircraft had already taken off.
Preliminary checks by Italian authorities indicated that the flights were neither routine nor logistical, and therefore fell outside the scope of bilateral agreements governing the U.S. use of military bases in Italy. Such operations require prior authorization and appropriate political and military consultations.
Italy hosts multiple air and joint-use military bases used by U.S. forces under bilateral defense agreements and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) framework.
The text reads, “The Italian government has denied the use of the Sigonella military base for the landing of some U.S. bombers participating in the war in the Middle East. Defense Minister Crosetto’s denial is motivated by the absence of prior consultation, as required by the treaties.”
Sigonella, located in eastern Sicily, serves as a key strategic hub for U.S. operations in the Mediterranean.
Following the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Crosetto said the United States could continue to use bases in Italy for routine operations under existing agreements, while any activities beyond that scope would require parliamentary approval.
Similar concerns have emerged elsewhere in Europe. Spain recently closed its airspace to flights linked to U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran and barred the use of U.S. bases such as Rota and Moron de la Frontera, citing opposition to what it views as a unilateral conflict in violation of international law. :::

Could this just be market manipulation again?
Why not. It seems to, amazingly, still work.

The document was prepared based on the analysis of more than two million people from various sectors of society, the head of government explained through his official account on the social network X.
Marrero added that it is now up to each level to objectively update the actions to be developed, and that the Program should become a working tool, as a guiding thread to achieve the necessary economic transformations in the complex scenario that the country faces.
Marrero announced on X that in the coming days the public will be informed about the results of the consultation, the main modifications to the content of the Government's Economic and Social Program for 2026 and the progress of its implementation.
The Government's 2026 Economic and Social Program defines the planning and implementation for crisis management—the what, how, and when to do it—to revitalize the economy. It serves as the compass for transforming the economy within the complex environment in which it operates. :::
Honduras and El Salvador Strengthen Integration with Tourism Alliance - Telesur English

The signing of the Binational Tourism Alliance seeks to create a regional corridor that will boost the local economy and support SMEs through the joint promotion of cultural destinations.
In a ceremony held in La Esperanza, in the central department of Intibucá, the Ministers of Tourism of Honduras and El Salvador formalized a strategic agreement for the region. Andrés Ehrler, Minister of Tourism of Honduras, and Morena Valdez, his Salvadoran counterpart, signed the Binational Tourism Alliance with the main objective of developing a regional tourism corridor.
According to the Honduran Institute of Tourism, this initiative seeks to jointly promote the destinations of both nations to boost the economy and generate more opportunities for the communities involved. The agreement establishes coordinated actions to strengthen specific sectors such as culture, religious tourism, birdwatching, and gastronomy. The agreement covers promotion between the department of Morazán, in El Salvador, and the Honduran municipalities of La Esperanza, Intibucá, and Marcala in La Paz. These sites were identified for their cultural and natural potential. The organizers indicated that this initiative will encourage the flow of visitors to these border areas.
Minister Ehrler highlighted the importance of the union between the two nations during his remarks. He also emphasized the desire to surpass previous visitor numbers. He noted that the collaboration prioritizes the joint development of key destinations and the creation of job opportunities and incentives for local business activity.
For her part, Minister Valdez conveyed a message from the Nayib Bukele administration, highlighting the commitment to strengthening ties through new regional alliances in tourism. Valdez stated that the common goal is “to make the homeland called Central America even greater.”
The official emphasized the hope that this meeting will mark the beginning of future bilateral agreements. In her remarks, she underscored the importance of collaborating on projects that boost specific sectors, noting that the Central American countries are “brothers” and colleagues in this endeavor.
The agreement will facilitate support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises through joint projects. According to tourism associations, the alliance will strengthen tourism SMEs and generate new job opportunities, fostering cultural exchange between the communities involved.
This cooperation seeks to incentivize local business activity while promoting the natural wealth of the destinations involved in both countries. :::

The situation in Southern Lebanon has reached an absolutely critical state for Israel. Yesterday their frontline collapsed with Hezbollah recapturing large urban settlements despite IDF reinforcements being brought in. Difficult choices will have to be made. Namely, I’m talking about refocusing their efforts from striking Iran to striking Hezbollah from the air. The IAF has always been Israel’s greatest asset (their ground forces are pretty shit). Without air support, the IDF is totally hopeless in Southern Lebanon. If of course this doesn’t happen, than Hezbollah will continue firing rockets into Israel, Iron Dome interceptors will eventually run out (they will last longer than the ABM shield but not that long) and the IAF will be forced to act anyway.
It's absolutely wild to me how often countries look at historical events and just say "nah that won't happen to me." When has fighting a multi front war ever been the best strategy?
Glad it Isreal eating shit for their hubris this time
Yeah, and even more critical here is that Israel has been through this exact situation multiple times in recent history; last Lebanon invasion, 12-day war with Iran last year. It’s widely accepted that the telegraphed tit for tat between US and Iran that “closed” that out was because the Israelis couldn’t handle more ballistic missle impacts… and yet here we are 12 months later and they’ve launched a war that will repeat the exact same outcomes they already knew about.
I can see them being high on their own supply with respect to hezbollah; they were so excited about their clever pager war crime and assassinations that maybe they assumed Lebanon would be a cakewalk, but I cannot see how they expected Iranian retaliation to function differently this time, so soon after the last war, and when their own stockpiles of defensive munitions are low and their reservist army is exhausted. Again maybe they drank their own mossad kool aid, and thought the regime would crumble (they really should know better since mossad is so “smart” and they view Iran as their big bad) but like even casual observers would have said this wasn’t going to work out well.
Fascist ethnosupremacists are too up their own asses to realize that their enemies are clever and plan with forethought. They're still just trundling into traps in their metal coffins because they don't use infantry on foot supporting their merkavas. To quote Seamus Malekefzali (definitely misspelled) they're driving into traps Hezbollah set fifteen years ago, then driving into them again to try to rescue the first idiots and getting trapped again.

Foreign Minister criticizes OAS's competence in speaking out about Venezuela - Prensa Latina
::: spoiler Article
Caracas, March 31 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Yván Gil stated today that the Organization of American States (OAS) lacks any authority to comment on the internal affairs of Venezuela, a country that is not part of the organization.
“It is therefore deeply dissonant that an official from that body would presume to comment on processes that correspond exclusively to the Venezuelan people and their constitutional order,” the high-ranking official stated on his Telegram account.
Gil stated that it is surprising that "the current secretary general now intends to invoke the disastrous legacy of his predecessor, Luis Almagro."
He emphasized that the Bolivarian Republic “will continue its course of self-determination, an inalienable right of its people.”
The foreign minister accompanied his message with a photo of the post published on X by the head of the OAS, Albert R. Ramdin, with the word "INAPPROPRIATE" in capital letters.
Ramdin called for “the Venezuelan authorities to ensure that the processes for appointing the Attorney General and the Ombudsman meet the minimum standards of transparency, merit, and citizen participation.”
The National Assembly (parliament) of Venezuela began the process for the election of both Citizen Power positions more than a month ago, in which 134 candidates applied, 73 for head of the Public Ministry and 61 for the Ombudsman.
After a rigorous evaluation process - document review, interviews, among other requirements - 60 candidates with potential were selected.
First, the record number of male and female candidates, and then the lack of consensus among the deputies of both parties (government and opposition), forced the process to be extended twice by 48 hours, which was interrupted by the arrival of Holy Week.
On March 27, the Citizen Power Nominations Committee, approved by parliament, released the lists with 22 names of candidates for attorney general (three) and ombudsman (18), who were added during that extension period to select the two likely candidates, who will be submitted to a vote in the legislature. :::

F-35 Crashes In The Nevada Test And Training Range Complex
The aircraft went down in the range complex north of Las Vegas earlier today, with the pilot safely ejecting.
::: spoiler more
An F-35 crashed in the Nevada Test and Training Range in Southern Nevada. The pilot ejected and is reportedly safe after sustaining only minor injuries. According to KSNV News 3, “The U.S. military is searching for a pilot who had to eject from an aircraft over Southern Nevada on Tuesday, sources tell News 3… The aircraft reported trouble maneuvering around noon, according to sources.” The outlet subsequently reported that the pilot was found in good condition. TWZ has reached out to Creech AFB and Nellis AFB for more information. We will update this post as we find out more.
UPDATE: 5:24pm EST—
We have now gotten a statement from the 57th Wing at Nellis AFB (the range complex falls under the installation’s command). We now know the F-35 that was lost was based out of Nellis. F-35s are major tenants of the base, for weapons tests and tactics development tasks and aggressor duties, and visiting F-35s frequent the base for training and exercises. The statement reads:
An F-35 from Nellis AFB crashed north of Las Vegas today. The incident occurred approximately 25 miles northeast of Indian Springs, Nevada, within the controlled airspace and restricted federal property of the Nevada Test & Training Range. Emergency responders are on-scene and there is no impact to populated areas. The pilot is safe and being treated for minor injuries. The safety of our personnel and the community remain our top priority. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.
there's probably going to be more updates to the article, so the archived version might quickly become outdated and it might be better to just check the original URL if you're interested, https://www.twz.com/air/f-35-crashes-in-the-nevada-test-and-training-range-complex
:::
I think part of why this is so funny is the exponentially growing cost of planes. If a Mustang or a Spitfire crashed during a training exercise, who cares, probably five more came off the assembly line during the crash. But an F35 is $100 million a pop and they're making like a hundred a year tops. Honestly given the ongoing maintenance costs of the things, it's probably cheaper overall to crash them during training than to actually use them
Might have been posted in the last thread already, but here goes: Three drones have crashed in Finland in the past few days, out of at least 2 have been Ukrainian. Authorities are generally absolutely fine with this. I don't know what to make of it, really. The Ukranians have been targeting Russian infrastructure near the Finnish gulf, so drones straying into Finland due to jamming or whatever might not be too far-fetched? But really I don't know enough about drones to say.

The envoy said Iran maintains a principled position to allow Bangladesh’s fuel-carrying ships through the strategic waterway.
“Bangladesh has expressed concerns, but we would have been happy to see Bangladesh condemning the aggression on Iran,” he said.

He said Iran considered Bangladesh as a friend and thus expects more.

Professor John Mearsheimer: "if there were Nuremberg trials right where the Israelis and the Americans were brought before the court, President Trump along with President Netanyahu and many of their advisors would be hanged"
JDPON Mearsheimer is slowly emerging before our eyes
If there were Nuremberg trials right now a small percentage of Israelis and Americans might get hanged but the rest of them would get promoted by the west and put into positions of power all over the world. At least, that's what happened with the original Nuremberg trials
This guy is a nazi who just wishes imperialism was done smarter. I dont know what JDPON is but Please im begging everybody to listen to real actual revolutionaries and journalist in West Asia.
JDPON is like a third worldist, internet maoist thing and its said tongue in cheek and ironically. Joint dictatorship of the proletariat of oppressed nations. On hexbear, youll see it a lot applied to Trump - the joke is these guys are damaging the American empire or otherwise hastening the end of American imperialist looting (entirely unintentionally). Really, it's a joking way to remark on the inevitable heightening of the contradictions of a liberal capitalist empire
does he still hate china for no reason or is this a peter daou situation?
It’s not no reason, he has said it many times, he’s an America first imperialist whose criticism of European and west Asian foreign policy is on the grounds that it weakens the American position against China
the idea of a true believer in the american project is fascinating and disturbing. it's good that the grifters don't listen to him.
PROF JOHN MEARSHEIMER: I think there is absolutely no question that we want to do everything we can to avoid a war over Taiwan as well as over the South China Sea and the East China Sea. We do not want to get into a war with China. I want to make that very clear. But I also believe at the same time we have a deep-seated interest in containing China and not allowing it to conquer Taiwan.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE PRIME MINISTER, DON'T PANIC, EVERYTHING IS FINE
Basically
Yeah... In the absence of coordinated strategies like rationing all I can say is that for an individual, especially one strapped for cash, stockpiling some fuel, prescribed medicines, and non perishable food would be a reasonable thing to do.
Yes this will be worse for everyone overall, but you don't have a duty to go hungry for the comfort of the bourgeois.
There will likely be extremely expensive fuel, crop failures, and some medicine shortages. Not a bad time to buy a bag of rice, lentils, canned tomatoes, beans etc.

Poland won’t divert Patriot air defense systems to Gulf
The U.S. is approaching all its NATO allies looking for more air defense batteries, said a senior defense official from a NATO country.
::: spoiler more
Poland has no plans to relocate its Patriot air defense systems to the Middle East, Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said Tuesday after reports that the U.S. had informally requested a transfer. "Our Patriot batteries and their armaments are used to protect Polish airspace and NATO’s eastern flank. Nothing is changing in this regard, and we have no plans to move them anywhere!" Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X on Tuesday. "Our allies are well aware of and understand the importance of our tasks here. Poland’s security is an absolute priority," he added. The remarks follow a report from Polish daily Rzeczpospolita earlier Tuesday alleging U.S. officials had asked Warsaw to shift one of its Patriot batteries to the Middle East as Iran's retaliatory drone strikes on U.S. Gulf allies put a growing strain on air defense stockpiles. However, a senior defense official from a NATO country who spoke on condition of anonymity said that Poland had not been singled out by Washington. The U.S. has approached all its NATO allies with two questions on air defense:
what not needing NATO looks like - begging NATO countries to pretty please send some air defense assets over
It is looking for batteries for Ukraine and also for the Middle East, but not the Gulf, to protect NATO installations, the official said.
yeah, 'cause they've been practically pushed out of the Gulf already, not much left to defend there
“There was no special pressure on Poland,” they said. “This was a question that was sent to all allies." Even the pro-Donald Trump opposition Law and Justice party is balking at the idea of transferring a Patriot battery. Mariusz Błaszczak, a former defense minister, on Tuesday told reporters: "Poland should not grant approval for such matters." The U.S. military and Gulf states used 1,285 PAC-3 Patriot missiles in the first 16 days of the war Trump launched against Iran. Poland currently has two Patriot batteries, each with 16 launchers, and has received most of the 200 specialized missiles it ordered from the U.S. in 2019. :::

UK ‘weeks away from medicine shortages’ if Iran war continues, experts warn
Mark Samuels, the chief executive for Medicines UK, representing manufacturers of generic drugs which make up 85 per cent of medications used by the NHS, warned that if the conflict dragged on, drug shortages could emerge in a matter of weeks.
He told The Guardian: “We’re not in a crisis currently but it’s still a serious situation.”
Experts have said medications from painkillers to cancer treatment could soon be in short supply
Mr Samuels explained that medical distributors typically stock six to eight weeks of stocks to avoid shortfalls, while suppliers to hospitals in England must hold eight weeks’ worth.

Israeli strikes in Beirut killed at least seven people and wounded 24 others early Wednesday, Lebanon’s national news agency reported.

I thought they liked "disruption"? no?
Nearly half of the surveyed companies reported significant staff absences, with around 48% saying more than a quarter of their workforce is unavailable due to reserve military service, school closures, and security restrictions. Only 11% reported no absences.
bwahahaha
given 90% overlap between IDF reservists and these industries, this will only tank them further as more reservists are called to defend the products of their thievery with their bodies. finally there will be unlimited 🔻 on the purveyors of spy tech.

You, Hexbear user - yeah - just in case you accidentally wander into the Middle East one day, there are some things you should know, and one of them is that there is absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we're the greatest military power in the world. We're seventh in airplane maintenance, twenty-seventh in missile production, twenty-second in drone capabilities, forty-ninth in naval performance, 178th in destroying hardened missiles cities, second in assassinating officials in Tehran apartment blocks, number four in petrochemical facilities bombed, and number four in daily aircraft sorties. We lead the world in only three categories: number of children killed in missile strikes on schools, number of troops exported to hotel blocks so they can "work remotely" who are then killed by drones, and number of aircraft carriers who flee combat zones, upon which we clog more toilets and start more laundry fires than the next 26 countries combined, 25 of whom are allies. None of this is the fault of a Xiposting Hexbear user, but you, nonetheless, are without a doubt, a member of the MOST- -FUCKED- -WESTERNERS- , so when you ask what makes us the greatest military power in the world, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about?!
