What's really fucked about this is we just got a perfect example of what a vet can do to actually prove themselves

That marine running for the green party who got his arm broken protesting this war with Iran is willing to put himself in harms way to stand for what's right and anything short of that from Platner would still feel half assed even if he didn't have the nazi tattoo

Capital police thanked Senator Chud and gave him a patch.

A GOP Chud Senator named Tim Sheehy was involved in that assault and he helped break that guy's arm. Sheehy was a Navy SEAL.

Republican Sen. Tim Sheehy of Montana assisted several police officers in physically ejecting a man who interrupted a Capitol Hill hearing on Wednesday to object to the U.S. and Israel's war with Iran.

  • 8 years serving in Abu Ghraib and Fallujah to, in his words, "play soldier"
  • volunteered for Blackwater
  • self proclaimed "history buff" who spent 18 years with a Nazi tattoo on his chest
  • reddit history full of sexist and homophobic remarks

Liberals don't care because being a Nazi is not disqualifying for them.

Most common excuses I've seen for his Nazi tattoo: "Don't pretend like you knew what a totenkopf was before this" and "Don't you have anything new to talk about?"

"Don't pretend like you knew what a totenkopf was before this"

They think everyone is as stupid as they are.

So what? HE knew what it was, and that's what matters. It's not a bad thing that I wasn't aware of the Nazi origins of it, because I'm not a Nazi wannabe. The problem is that he DID know what it was, and STILL wanted to make it a PERMANENT part of his body.

If he's a Nazi, he's really fucking bad at it

Does being incompetent and a nazi make him a bipartisan candidate?

Yes?

"They just listen to and accept his answers" is absolutely the perfect encapsulation of the liberal brain. "Oh he said it's fine so it's fine, there's no need to question it at all."

He couldn't've lied to us.

I suspect they aren't even thinking that far. An authority figure says something, it's true, no questions please. It's how they consume all information. The news says it is so it is. My pastor says it is so it is. My food blogger says it is so it is. Just no thinking at all, let alone any critical thinking.

And then people who do think critically are somehow anti intellectual because we're questioning the fact that they aren't thinking

They just listen to and accept his answer

So you're saying people in Maine are stupid rubes?

He sat down for our interview wearing an Anti-Fascist Knitting Club t-shirt

Wait, so we're supposed to consider a tattoo he sported for a decade to be less significant than the shirt he put on that morning and then took off that evening?

Jon Favreau's guide for determining who is not a Nazi.

They are not a Nazi if they are polling well, they appear on my show with a cute "anti-fascist" t-shirt, and they say they are not a Nazi.

His is not, nor has he ever been a member of the national socialist german workers party, they were defunct in the 1940s guys, c'mon

That supertroopers scene but instead of him being a cat he's just performing increasingly obscene nazi gestures and rhetoric

Did you just say Mew-ssolini?

Nah they're all 100 years old and liked his sick tat

Graham defending marines getting nazi tattoos

It's not a Nazi tattoo. It's a tattoo for a different organization of genocidal white supremacists on a quest to murder the undesirable foreigners, who just so happen to use a logo they copied from the Nazis. Pretty epic how many people can't understand the distinction.

"Don't judge this guy by anything he actually thinks or believes, judge him by the PR stunts he did to make you like him!"

Grahams thoughts on black people

Not to defend Graham Platner, the working for blackwater thing is all I need to know about the guy. He gives me intense fetterman vibes

BUT this is a known phenomenon, it’s a real thing shown by research and unfortunately something you do learn in practice if you work for tips. It’s likely caused by the obvious historical factors, racialized poverty, and the fact that black people get worse service (which is a feedback loop too).

LA Times article talking about it

Plus he asked that in the “Ask your mildly racist questions you wouldn’t want to actually say” thread on the anonymous forum. I fully believe he noticed this working as a bartender, and asked the question in good faith.

I agree with this. Dude is a Nazi scum fuck but he’s only ever racist towards dem acceptable targets.

i realize this will draw some people's ire but 'american who is an idiot and turns liberal enough to be anti israel but also keeps his sturmfuhrer tattoo' feels entirely fucking in line with reality

what gives me pause aren't the totenkopfs or whatever platner has tattooed to his chest. its the fetterman corollary: the dumbass is probably worse, not better, than the estabilshment dems

feels entirely fucking in line with reality

I think the explanation is that Platner is a lying piece of Nazi shit. He had the tattoo for 18 years and he is a self-described "history buff", etc. Also the Totenkopf is not a "whatever". It's a symbol of the absolute worst of the worst of the Nazis. The evil human garbage known as the Waffen-SS.

"history buff"

he's gonna fucking kill us all

I thinj in a bad empanada video he found ragged photos on his (platner) instagram with him all buddy buddy in his besties kitchen, blackwater sticker proudly on thw fridge, his mate wrote abook on oct 7, and is a uber zionist, the photos were quickly removed

i'm so tired of hearing about this guy

He's either a Nazi or ignorant as a brick, and both should disqualify him from a political role.

summary execution for anyone who ever worked or works for blackwater (i do not acknowledge their name change)

I’m not where this clown is relevant so I haven’t paid him much attention- did he worked for Blackwater?

As an aside I occasionally drive past a coffee shop called Blackwater and it makes me chuckle every time

Edit - looked at Blackwater and related ownership/equity circulation and holy FUCK. How is it that the worst people (eg Leon Black) end up involved in all of the worst things? (Rhetorical)

platner did multiple tours for the regular military and then didn't have enough torture or murdering children so he worked for blackwater too.

i think it's possible for boots to have a change of heart and fight against the empire but not if they repeatedly sign up for more and have a fucking nazi tattoo.

(i do not acknowledge their name change)

Neither does which still titles the article "Blackwater (company)"

Not very woke of you to deadname a murderous mercenary band! ::: spoiler spoiler /s :::

Wearing an anti-fasciat knitting club shirt

Wait, so do the symbols one chooses to display indicate loyalties or do they not? Please help, I'm so confused

BUT if you're gonna accuse him of being a nazi,

...then at least TRY to find a few more dozen pictures of him with nazi tattoos or instances of him mortaring towns in Iraq, you loony leftists

These gentlemen think that when they have changed the names of things they have changed the things themselves. This is how these profound thinkers mock at the whole world.

His first political project was abu ghraib! If he's a Nazi he's really fucking good at it

podjons

opinion immediately discarded

He killed people and bragged about it

Tired of hearing about this guy, buy what the hell is an "anti-fascist knitting club"? I can't really imagine what they would do. Knit sweaters with upside-down Mussolini on the front? It seems like the perfect shirt to wear to 'virtue signal' (for lack of a better phrase), left leaning people see 'anti-fascist' and think he's on their team, and reactionary liberals and see 'knitting club' and think "oh, he's harmless and not scary."

Is this a more common thing than I realize? Do some leftist groups often tie their organizing to random harmless hobbies as a cover? Or just like, including a shared interest in addition to more practical organizing as a draw? I live in an area devoid of any sort of left orgs or groups, so maybe I'm just out of touch here.

Its probably a "stitch-and-bitch" social club for old punks.

Knitting circles seem to be pretty common in lots of scenes as a femme-coded, low pressure and usually non-alcohol oriented way for people to stay connected.

How about the fact he didn’t remove the tattoo?

Or that he waiting to see how people reacted to it before covering it up
