Newsom [was] corporate counsel and a board member for Trans-International Computer Investment Corporation (TCI), which handled classified government contracts, for which Newsom was issued a National Security Clearance. TCI went bankrupt in 1971 after what the Sacramento District Attorney called "the biggest stock fraud in California history".
For most of 1969 and 1970, Newsom traveled across Europe alongside former SS security service member Otto von Bolschwing who had been brought to the U.S. by the CIA under Operation Paperclip and appointed TCI's president by Getty due to his former Nazi intelligence connections and their value in obtaining defense technology contracts. Newsom referred to von Bolschwing as "suave", "plausible", and "world weary".
Newsom made his fortune via the Getty family.
Investment management
Newsom served as a financial advisor for the Getty family businesses. He directly managed the Gordon P. Getty Family Trust, which is estimated at more than $2 billion. The trust earns about 2 percent a year resulting in approximately $40 million in annual income. He screened potential investments and made recommendations on real estate, stocks, bonds, and other ventures. "I make my living working for Gordon Getty", Newsom said in 2003.
It's strange that the page is so short. It's only ~750 words.
Why the fuck is half of Western politicians has some sort of connection to 100% authentic Nazis?
Because Nazism is inherent to Western ™ civilization ©®™
I would expect homegrown Nazis, but why they felt the need to reuse German Nazis even when it was completely unhelpful?
The German Nazis were extremely helpful and willing to do terrible things
the USA arranged for Klaus "Butcher of Lyon" Barbie to be sent to Bolivia so he could do horrible torture on leftists there
Yep he was definitely one of the ones I was thinking of and he made millions selling weapons and drugs in the process which I'm sure only made the US love him more
Yes, and using them for new terrible things or technical expertise was logical. But why American elite integrated them into their ranks rather than dispose of them, when they stop being useful?
I don't think they stopped being useful, plus the US people probably looked up to them
trust earns about 2 percent a year
underperforming the market this badly tells me he was siphoning money
The entire thing smells hinky. The richest people in the world don't assign some rando lawyer to be their financial advisor and to handle their family trust. They have specialized money guys to do that.
The internet is wacky. I learned this trivia about Gavin's daddy in a very lame Bluesky thread I was certain was 100% pointless. I was about to close the tab when I happened to see the words "Operation Paperclip" in a post with 2 likes.
So, Newsom's Paperclip number is 2. How do current and recent presidents rank?
That's a good question.

Six Degrees of Operation Paperclip
~~Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon~~
I want to give W a 1 for his granddad doing the business plot, but that was technically a different Nazi operation.
Six Degrees of Nazism
~~Six Degrees of Operation Paperclip~~
Well, then every US president's number is 0
