no one is shoving anything in your damn fucking throat
why not? 😔 i love turned based strategy!!!
I'm honestly pretty mad that the entire world is trying so hard to make me care about opinions made by reactionaries. Reactslop is bad. No opinion has ever been above a C-tier while being made by a reactionary, and yes that includes Chomsky and Zizek. I normally just ignore reactslop but this one Empire's massive cultural dominance feels like it's shoving it down my throat.
The good version.
"turnslop" is amazing ragebait
I hate how slop has entered the zeitgeist
No longer does it mean something produced with little thought or skill, but rather "thing i do not like"
Turnslop, friendslop, wordslop...
How about you stop jamming slop into your fucking mouth and learn to actually examine things!
It's the enshittification of slop
Ensloppification.
This is peak commentslop
based and sloppilled
Sounds like you’ve got a problem with… anti-slop slop.
antisla
That's how the internet goes now. No idea how to stop this. Seems like it speeds up every time. How many years were people using media literacy in an accurate way before it became a way to say "this person doesn't like a show I like"?
Semantic driftslop
this is violence
The worst part is I think we started it. I don't remember slop being used to describe content until I joined the chapo enjoyers community on reddit, then it was all PPB, post hog and snouts descending to the trough.
it was on 4chan that it was popularized being used as slur; til the rest of the internet whitewashed it, so im all for ensloppification really.
How many years were people using media literacy in an accurate way before it became a way to say "this person doesn't like a show I like"?
This is an issue of media literacy and of regular literacy.
How much slop could a slop trough trough if a slop trough could trough slop?
Turn based games are based, it's right there in the name!
as opposed to real cringe games
Aren't a lot of the oldest games in history, before computers existed, turn based strategy though? Chess, the infamous "turnslop" game.
Almost all tabletop, card and board games are all turnslop. Speed and Egyptian Ratscrew only I guess
Egyptian Ratscrew
Do I even wanna look that up?
it's just the game War but with slapping involved.
I had hand mobility issues and turn based games were pretty much the only ones I could play for a couple years. Now I play them 'cause I can smoke catastrophic amounts of weed in between turns
I always love loading up a save and having to spend 20 minutes figuring out what the hell i was doing when I was playing stoned lol
I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to write a comment about how close to home your comment hits lol
Yeah I love turned based because I don't necessarily want to be like locked in and engaged while playing a game, but I still like the vibes of an RPG. If I've got the energy then fromsoft has my heart, but for other times shit like this is great
That's such a good idea. I'm so shit at the RTS games I've been playing for 20 years because I play them with my family and we're all high as shit.
The entire world is conspiring against "Windrider784" by churning strategy games yearly. Now let's make it bi-weekly to send a message.
Nothing with turn-based combat is above C-tier, that's why Go has only been played for a scant three millennia
this is me but CARD GAME MECHANICS in games that HAVE NO BUSINESS MAKING ME FORM A FUCKIN DECK
rogue like lite with deck building mechanics GO AWAY
I really love the sub genre, but it is at the point now where if I see a game advertised that way I will just straight up refuse to buy it. I don't need the 511th Slay the Spire clone, but with worse balance.
excuse me but can i interest you in a city builder where- get this- the BUILDINGS ARE CARDS??
with an ai Kevin Spacey soundalike as the narrator/advisor
cardslop has no place in other genres, let me enjoy my games without deckslop
Why can't these weirdos just make like an RPG and turn based?
these are words from somebody who will never know the joys of XCOM 2 and playing dress-up with your soldiers
The joys of learning that 95% chance actually means 5% success
This is 4chan /v/ contrarian brain gone wild. "Turnslop" literally no one in history has called combat this you deranged weirdo.
It's like a comic book fan calling literature "wordslop".
Oh, I have to find that 4chan post about the guy being upset that the book his friend recommended to him was an actual book, not a comic
Or when terminally online g*mers call coop games friendslop
I thought friendslop was specifically games that streamers play with other streamers as like a cross-promotional thing. Like whatever fad physics party game defines the Twitch zeitgeist that month.
Nah, streamers didnt get paid to play peak and other games like it, g*mers started calling all coop games friendslop because you play with your friends
call coop games friendslop
Clocking in for their shift at the "telling on yourself" factory.
I prefer "Jolly Coopcore"
it's absurd. i prefer pausable realtime like in bg 1 and 2 but slop it aint
"some things aren't for you and that's okay" is a concept so foreign to some people you'd think it just touched down from outer fucking space
Me, side-eyeing the comments on every Jacob Collier video.
It's funny that people internalize advertisement as the entire world of other people trying to force them to do something. That's actually one or two companies invading your internet space to convince you to buy something. It's not even cultural dominance. The game awards are a corporate affair, a big commercial.
If people don't have a socialist explanation for how things work, then they are left to make this shit up.
The game awards are a corporate affair, a big commercial.
Would Miss Piggy really do that? Get on stage and sell me products?
::: spoiler Oh I have something to shove down this mfers throat :::
why are all these games and movies and tv shows I don't like continuing to fuck my face
As a turn based hater, fuck this guy. Play what you want man, no one is forcing you to play anything.
I was a turn based hater until I played In to the Breach
oooo this is by the people who did FTL! loved that game, even tho i'm complete trash at it, so i'll def have to check this out
I once thought turn based bad until i played something other than pokemon, final fantasy and persona. I then discovered that turn based can actually be really fun
“This feels like! It makes me feel! Feelings!”
If they could ever hear themselves it would be impressive
Do people like this go driving, see a billboard ad for something like an RV dealer and go “I’m not interested in buying an RV! WHY IS THIS BEING SHOVED DOWN MY THROAT!?”
I do get mad when I see advertising.
Yeah I have a visceral reaction to seeing ads. I’ve accidentally conditioned my kids to boo at ads on TV like a bad DARE assembly where the kids are supposed to make noise when drugs are on screen
I've gotten so good at avoiding ads that whenever I'm somewhere random when an ad is on I literally can't believe some people can stand that shit at all. Related: my dad loved ads and would leave the TV blasting at full volume during them, it drive me crazy. So maybe my dad was responsible in a way for my intense hatred of advertising.
Does anyone else prefer Real-Time-with-Pause (RTwP, like in Dragon Age: Origins or Pillars of Eternity or BG1/2 and other Infinity Engine games)? Looks like it's dying unfortunately, although some indies still use it (like Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy or Black Geyser or GreedFall 2).
Rimworld uses it as does Against the Storm and Stellaris. Seems like it’s used more for grand strategy games or city management
Some guys never won at Monopoly and it shows.
Monopoly was designed to be miserable, if you want to play a game about unironically being a dominant-class shitlord at least play Settlers of Catan
I'm the sheep baron
My hands tremble as I come to understand my power. A simple suffix able to drain the joy out of anything it touches.
I typically do not enjoy turn based games, but BG3 is a fucking masterpiece (about to play the D:OS 1 and 2 this break) and E33 is pretty solid for the first couple hours i've played of it. Not liking a particular style of gameplay doesn't make it bad, and the idea that its more popular or being "shoved" anywhere is frankly ridiculous.
xslop is officially over
